Plans to install a food trailer at North Beach

A food trailer could be installed on the north side of North Beach, if planning permission is granted.

Daniel McDonald has applied to install the 5.5m-long stainless steel trailer beside the cycle path, near the petanque terrains. He is also proposing having between three and five foldable picnic tables.

‘Our menu will be loaded fries, wings, burgers, burritos, hot dogs and thick shakes, showcasing as much of local produce as I can, with Guernsey Dairy having agreed to make the ice cream for us,’ Mr McDonald said in his letter to planning.

‘This will be a great place for tourism coming in from the harbour and neighbouring marinas, as well all of the local businesses in the vicinity of Town and North Beach. The picnic benches are so people can sit down and enjoy a bite to eat overlooking the marina, watching the boats.’

The trailer would have two drums – one with fresh water and one for waste water – and the trailer would be hooked up with electricity.

Rubbish would be collected daily, and at the end of each day the benches would be folded up and stored inside the trailer.

It is proposed that the trailer would operate from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.30 am to 2.30pm, with an evening opening on Friday nights and starting earlier on Saturday mornings.

If approved, the trailer would be positioned behind a wall, meaning it would be barely visible from the North Beach access road.
