Participants had the choice of two routes – a 23-mile route beginning at the top of Le Val des Terres, taking them past the Mallard, down towards Pleinmont and then north along the west coast, or a nine-mile route starting from Grandes Rocques.
Both routes finished at North Beach car park in Town, where riders were greeted by members of the Friends of Les Bourgs and given medals for taking part.
Routes were well-marshalled, with event officials and signs located at various points to ensure riders did not lose their way.
The event was not a race, meaning cyclists could go at their own pace and even stop for snacks, drinks and lunch along the way, provided they arrived at North Beach by 2pm.
Among the more than 200 cyclists taking part were some of those completing the 30 Rides in 30 Days challenge, with this event the last ride of the challenge for them.
Les Bourgs senior fundraiser Liz Stonebridge was delighted with the amount of interest in this year’s ride, particularly from families.
‘We moved the event from the bank holiday weekend and that’s meant more families have signed up, which is great to see,’ she said.
‘So far the weather is holding up as well, in many ways it’s perfect cycling weather.’
She said it was difficult to put an exact figure on how much money the event raised, but said it greatly helped the hospice in its push to meet its £8,000 daily running costs.
‘We don’t get a single penny from the States, so every penny really does count.’
