She is the first woman to be elected to the States’ top job, polling 22 votes from the new Assembly to secure majority support in the first and only round of voting.
Mark Helyar recieved 11 votes and Jonathan Le Tocq seven as the new States met for the first time today.
Each candidate and their proposer were given time to make their cases before members had 45 minutes to ask questions of all three.

Deputy de Sausmarez had been proposed for the role by Deputy Tina Bury and seconded by Deputy Marc Laine.
The States will return on Wednesday to elect the other four members of the senior committee, with Deputy de Sausmarez yet to confirm who she will propose to join her.
Elections for the other committee presidents will happen on Friday and the members of those committees on Monday.
