More than 180 nominees were put forward across the 13 categories. Islanders will have a particularly busy time choosing their favourite Bailiwick Community Hero and the award for customer service, as both categories had more than 20 nominations.
Islanders have already been piling in to read the nominations and more than 10,000 votes have already been cast – with a mixture of paper voting slips and online votes.
‘They go out of their way to make this island a better place,’ said Guernsey Press editor James Falla about the nominees.
‘The Pride of Guernsey Awards exist to recognise those people, so we say thanks to them, and I also would like to say thanks to those who nominated them for an award.
‘Please do get involved and let us have your votes – remember it is the public vote that can get a nominee on to the shortlist of the final three to be judged for the award.’
Voting now closes at midday on Tuesday 16 September, after which the three most popular nominees in each category will be revealed.
Once the shortlist is published, the judges will select the final award winners, who will be announced at our awards ceremony at St Pierre Park Hotel on Saturday 18 October.
