Blue Diamond, the Guernsey-based garden centre group that owns Le Friquet Garden Centre, saw strong sales performance in 2025, according to the company’s latest annual trading statement.

Annual total sales for Blue Diamond grew by just under 19% in 2025, a figure that puts the group ahead of the market, if only by a small margin.

‘Our focus during 2025 has been on three principal objectives,' said group finance director and company secretary Neil McDonald.

'Maximising trade from the good gardening season; integrating the six centres acquired in the year; and improving core profitability despite market and tax headwinds.

‘We are pleased to report success with all of these.’

Last year, the group reported seeing like-for-like sales increase by 6.1%, with garden centre sales growing 6.3% and restaurant sales growing 5.8%.

Customer numbers increased by 3.2%, and average basket spend went up 2.9%.

The update attributed the group’s success in part to several new acquisitions made over the course of the year, with all six sites new to the group either meeting or exceeding performance expectations.

‘Our intention is to build on the success of 2025 with another progressive year,’ said Mr McDonald.

The Blue Diamond Group is Guernsey’s second largest trading company, founded more than a century ago as the Fruit Export Company.

The family that founded the company back in 1904 still retains a significant share in it.
