Antony Dunks, Michael Lanyon, Sebastien Moerman and Joseph Perree will contest a by-election to be held on Wednesday 25 February. A hustings meeting was held in the Island Hall last night.
The new conseillers are required to replace Andrew Miller, who stepped down in January for personal reasons, and Ben Harris, who resigned in October after describing the leadership of Chief Pleas as ‘autocratic’.
Paul Armorgie, the Speaker of Chief Pleas, said the contested by-election was a positive development for Sark.
‘It shows the health and vibrancy of our small island democracy,’ he said.
‘I thank the candidates for putting themselves forward to serve and represent their community.’
