Collins becomes second deputy to quit ESS committee

Garry Collins has become the second deputy to quit the Employment & Social Security Committee in this political term.

He follows David Dorrity in leaving ESS but would not comment on his decision yesterday. He intends to make a statement in the States at this month’s meeting.

ESS president Tina Bury said she was surprised at the announcement and disappointed not to have the chance to resolve Deputy Collins’ concerns. She said he had not advised her he would be quitting.

‘Committee politics is never easy, but I believe that working things through and finding consensus is in the best interests of the community we serve,’ she said.
