Joining members of the Alderney group were Guernsey Chamber president Brooke Kenyon, chief executive Alice Gill and inter-Chamber liaison Paul McCormick.
The plan is for there now to be regular meetings to discuss mutual issues, including the proposed tax reforms and air connectivity and reliability. The meeting took place in the same week as Economic Development Committee president Sasha Kazantseva-Miller visited the island to meet her Alderney counterparts.
‘This was a very successful start to our working relationship with Guernsey at which several council members attended,’ said Alderney Chamber president Andrew Eggleston.
Mrs Kenyon said it was a pleasure to spend time with the Alderney Chamber and to hear first-hand of the opportunities, ambitions and challenges that face the island’s business community.
‘There is of course shared interest between Guernsey and Alderney, and I am keen for the Chamber to explore stronger collaboration wherever it can deliver benefit for our members, support economic growth and create new opportunities for local businesses,’ she said.
The meeting also discussed other topics, including marketing, hospitality, the skills board and apprenticeships, AI in business and inter-island communication.
