Three of them were existing members who wished to continue – Chris Gregg, Dr Lindsay Jefferies and Dr Michelle Le Cheminant.
They will be joined on 1 August by three new members – Dr Kevin Bales, Advocate Martha Eker-Male and Diana Penn.
Dr Bales has worked as a human rights academic and non-governmental organisation leader for 30 years, and has extensive experience working with anti-slavery and human rights organisations worldwide.
Advocate Eker-Male previously worked for an international law firm in London, where she gained experience in charities law, public international law and international development matters.
Her work included advising governments on issues of governance, contributing to submissions to United Nations bodies and supporting projects focused on human rights and accountability.
Ms Penn brings a diverse background in finance, aviation and international development. She spent many years working as an aid worker and finance manager in disaster zones with organisations including Oxfam and the UK’s Disasters Emergency Committee.
All the candidates were nominated by the commission’s president, Deputy Jennifer Strachan. She thanked three members of the commission who will leave their roles at the end of July – Judith Moore, Bryan Pill and Mike Allen.
The commission, which operates as a committee of the States, distributes funds voted by the States for aid and development overseas by making grants to charities undertaking development and humanitarian work in the world’s least developed countries and by contributing to emergency and disaster relief.
