The deputy was elected as an independent first-time candidate in June 2025. She is the vice-president of the Environment & Infrastructure Committee and also serves on the Committee for Health & Social Care. She becomes the fourth serving member of the island’s only active political party.
‘Being one year into my new role as a people’s deputy I am starting to develop a better understanding of the challenges of delivering better public services for our community within the existing systems and structures,’ Deputy Rochester said.
‘This, combined with my respect for the work rate and strengths of the current Forward Guernsey members, means I have decided to join the party with the sole objective of delivering good policy outcomes for Guernsey.
‘I have always believed that working with others in pursuit of shared objectives is the most effective way to deliver change and for me politics is no different. I look forward to enjoying the peer support and collective knowledge of the party and working with them to deliver our manifesto which I was proud to play a small part in creating.’
Party leader Deputy Gavin St Pier said: ‘Sally is known to be one of the hardest-working deputies. Her background in the finance sector, alongside a strong record of involvement in local charities and the wider community will further strengthen our collaborative team which is focused on delivering our manifesto. Most importantly, she shares our belief that deputies can achieve much more by working together to deliver for islanders.’
The two other political members of the party are Deputies Tom Rylatt and Rhona Humphreys.
‘We set out to demonstrate that deputies can achieve more by working together and I’m really pleased that Sally has chosen to become part of what we’re building,’ she said.
The party fielded six candidates at the 2025 general election. It had developed its policies through the community policy movement Future Guernsey but was forced to create a different party after the States voted to slash the funding available for parties to spend at the election.
