The club was cleared shortly before closing time on Sunday 10 May and police set up a precautionary cordon from the Weighbridge taxi rank to the Ship and Crown pub, which also encompassed the lower part of the Pollet and the Lower Pollet.
Francesco Biancu, 33, of St James Street, St Peter Port, had denied all offences and a fortnight after his first appearance in the Magistrate’s Court, in early June, a charge relating to the bomb scare was dropped.
The prosecution said at the time that the evidential burden had not been met for the original charge of a bomb hoax, but it would continue with an alternative charge of behaving in a disorderly manner. He was granted open remand.
Today he appeared again in court. The prosecution offered no evidence against him and the case was formally dismissed.
