The man who has been arrested is receiving treatment in hospital while remaining in police custory.
‘Formal identification has not yet taken place, and efforts are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to support those who may be affected,’ said detective superintendent Jonathan Bancroft.
‘Police can confirm it is not looking for anyone further at this time.’
The emergency services will be highly visible in Alderney this morning, and the investigation is fast moving.
The public are asked to refrain from speculation while initial enquiries are completed.
