What started as a message from 19-year-old Alex Cerciello Rega suggesting a challenge in a group chat with his friends has now turned into a 60km walk for Movember.

‘There was no question about whether we were going to do it,’ said 18-year-old Jason Gaspar, who is part of the walk team.

Kai Langford, Evan Simon, Jayden Callanan, Theo Jones and Jaiden Cordingley make up the rest of ‘the Drezzers’ and will also be taking part.

‘We’re doing the walk for Movember, which raises money for men’s mental health and male cancers,’ said Mr Langford.

‘Most of us are very active for our work.’

The 60km walk is based on research that shows approximately 60 men die by suicide every hour globally.

‘We want to build awareness for younger people and do something we have never done before,’ said Mr Callanan.

The walk will start early in the morning on Sunday 8 November from the KGV and go around the coast before cutting back inland to finish at the playing fields.

‘It should take us about 15 hours,’ said Mr Cerciello Rega.

The Drezzers Walk has a target of £2,000 and they have already raised about £400.
