Eddie Evans is the new operations director at Skybus, a newly-created role. After his spells with the collapsed airlines he has been working as an inspecting officer with the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
‘My immediate focus will be on bringing stability and consistency to our operations, supporting the team and building a strong foundation for the future.
‘Skybus has a great opportunity ahead, and I am looking forward to working together to strengthen the operation and return the airline to a position of continued success,’ he said.
It was announced yesterday that Aurigny chairman Kevin George had left ISSG, where he was a non-executive director, after seven years. He has headed Aurigny for six years but admitted that 'recent developments' in the commercial relationship between the airlines 'have made the two roles increasingly difficult to maintain'.
Group chief executive Stuart Reid is also set to leave the company early next year after seven years.
Skybus has faced criticism in recent months over its handling of services to and from the Isles of Scilly, including the cancellation of flights during the summer, and over the deal made between Skybus and Aurigny to provide aircraft for Alderney’s Guernsey and Southampton services, which has struggled with reliability.
Complaints have been made both in Alderney and the Isles of Scilly.
