Having chosen Guernsey to live on during the third quarter of my existence is one of the wisest moves I have made after having lived on three continents.
I had no financial incentive to move here but for the quality of life, safety and peace and of course, the people.
All the above have made me so comfortable in my choice that I have only very briefly left the island twice in the past five years, and comfortably riding out Covid in the best of circumstances due to how well the crisis was managed by Dr Brink and the government who appointed her.
Were I to have the slightest doubt on my life choice it certainly would have been swept away on Liberation Day.
Seeing the seafront packed by every generation, from very young children to people in their nineties, all as one, celebrating the history, unity and pride of their community was confirmation I had banked on the right environment to spend the twilight of my life.
I wish to thank the island for letting me be part of its life.
