Injuries mount for Guernsey
A GROWING injury list rather than the heavy loss away to Chichester is giving Guernsey head coach Jordan Reynolds major cause for concern at this early stage of the season.
Guernsey lost three key figures in the second half of their 54-19 defeat on Saturday afternoon and Reynolds admitted that the situation 'is probably twice as bad now as this time last week' with regards to those in the treatment room.
'It was 14-all at half-time, we went to 19-14 up and it was 19-all after around 50min. and then within a passage of about 30 seconds of play we lost Malcolm Barnes, Nick Barton and Greg Smith all to injury,' said the coach.
'That disrupted us and within 20-odd minutes they had scored 30-odd points.'
Reynolds reported that the trio were unlikely to make quick returns.
'Malcolm and Barts will be three to four weeks while Greg will need a scan on his ankle. It is not broken, but if there is ligament damage we could be looking at six or seven weeks out.'
However, Reynolds refused to use those blows as an excuse for the second half performance on Saturday after what had been a promising opening 40min.
