Le Poullain steals the show with a perfect punch

PROVIDING the only knockout of the event, Billy Le Poullain again showcased his talent on a victorious night for the hosts at Beau Sejour's big Open Show on Saturday night.

He may still only be 19 and a relative newcomer in the senior ranks, but Alderney-born Le Poullain really is a special fighter and this time he finished off Ryan Hibbard in round two.

After a cracking fight that saw both men playing their part but Le Poullain landing the juicier shots with his speed and slickness, the killer blow came late in the second.

A huge right-hand sent the UK man to the canvas and although he attempted to carry on, referee Eamonn Gillease correctly waved the bout off, with Hibbard's legs like jelly.

It is the 18th win of Le Poullain's career and after he had helped Guernsey to an overall 8-6 win over a Western Counties select team, he admitted it could not have gone any better.

'That shot was one of those where for however long I box, I may never hit a cleaner or better shot,' he said.
