Priaulx feels the heat at Six Hours of Nurburgring
ANDY PRIAULX emerged unscathed from a dramatic pit lane fire during yesterday's Six Hours of Nurburgring race in the FIA World Endruance Championship.
On a tough weekend for the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team in Germany, as the Guernsey driver hopped onboard the No. 67 Ford GT to take over from teammate Harry Tincknell, the action heated up a lot more than expected.
While refuelling the car, a problem with a fuel valve caused a spillage, which then ignited a flash fire.
This was quickly extinguished and the team set upon the car to check for damage and just over 20 minutes later it was back in the race.
'The good news is that all the boys came away unscathed from the fire and that's what is important,' said Priaulx.
In the end, the No. 67 car came home in seventh place.
