Will Fazakerley, GFC’s new spearhead, headed home Dave Rihoy’s lofted ball but by half-time Whyteleafe were level and in the second half turned the screw to take all three points.
It was a classic Fazakerley goal, fully utilising his spring and power to climb above the defender to loop a header home.
The Green Lions can point to the first half loss of injured midfielder Liam Mahon as a reason for the change in fortunes, but he had been off the pitch only two minutes when Whyteleafe levelled.
Just before the break the visitors felt Whyteleafe should have been reduced to 10 as Rihoy was chopped down on the edge of the box, but only a yellow was given to the culprit and on 73min. Dsane was given far too much room and he exploited it superbly to put the home side ahead.
On 88min. Simon Geall fouled a home player and Dsane completed his hat-trick from the spot to complete the turnaround.
