A NEW year has brought with it a new venue and also a new kit for Skipton.

However, the champions were unable to mark the occasion with a win as Le Mont Saint withstood a second-half Skipton fightback to clinch a 68-61 victory in the first match of Vistra Men’s Division One in 2021 at St Sampson’s High, where the campaign will be played out now that the Sir John Loveridge Hall at Beau Sejour has become a community vaccination centre.

After the first quarter had ended level at 14-all, LMS took control of the match in the second 10 minutes, scoring 27 points to their opponents’ eight as Agris Dulbinskis enjoyed a stellar first half with 16 points.

While the blues took the opportunity to rest some of their big guns in the third, Skipton started to mount their comeback and closed the gap to 10 points going into the final stanza then whittled it down further to just four with 90sec. remaining, but LMS held their nerve.
