Specsavers L Strike 49
Specsavers Lightning Strike took on the Winter League Premier Division leaders in a top-of-the-table clash on Tuesday night, realistically needing a win to stop them soaring out of reach.
But a convincing 68-49 victory for Rezzers prevented Lightning claiming a single point from the encounter and so extends their overall lead to 15.
Lightning could not utilise their full shooting rotation, being without captain Donna Brehaut and regular starter Bryony de Garis, so had their B team’s Sophia Roger stepping into the breach alongside experienced GA Steph Batiste.
Armed with the dominant Clare Henry and Verona Tomlin in the shooting circle, supported ably by Anna Sauvarin at WA, Rezzers blitzed the first quarter 20-14.
They edged away further despite a scrappy performance in the second quarter, reaching half-time 33-24 up.
They continued to pull away from there – including a 52-36 lead after the third period – and it was ultimately young GK Erin Sullivan that earned player of the match for a strong defensive display.
‘Really pleased to get the win, especially with a convincing scoreline,’ captain Henry said afterwards.
‘We had a really scrappy second quarter, but after a regroup at half-time, we found our rhythm again and settled down.
‘Anna was great for us in attack, bringing the ball down and our defence made some great turnovers.
‘We’re now 15 points clear at the top of the table with only four games remaining, so this is really promising for us.’
Batiste, who alongside Charlotte Hill provided useful experience amid a relatively green Lightning line-up, earned her side’s POM in consolation.

SNC Pula Blaze 55
Later that same night, B team Rezzers Black made it a club double by overcoming SNC Pula Blaze for the first time this season, though only by a single goal – 56-55.
The two sides entered the match level on points and, fittingly, came through the first quarter tied on 11-11.
Their air of inseparability continued in the run to half-time, where the score read 24-24.
Blaze managed to get ahead by three in the third quarter and, having won this match-up twice previously this season, looked to have the upper hand they needed.
But the resolute Rezzers battled back to edge the win.
Defensive stalwart Tracey Lock earned POM for the victors, while two of Blaze’s younger players – composed GA Eva Bourgaize and substitute Molly Bougourd – shared their honours.
This result continued a streak of particularly close games for the Blacks, who otherwise in 2026 have lost by one to the Island U19s and drawn with Lightning Storm.
