The Sarnians will be fighting 10 bouts against the North of England select team in the dinner boxing show at St Pierre Park, but exactly half of these contests will take place over the elite amateur duration of 3x3min.

The significance of this is not lost on Guernsey Amalgamated Boxing Club head coach Ben Duff.

‘This is shaping up to be a very good show and marks the first time since Covid that we’ve had five contests boxed over 3x3 minutes,’ he said.

‘A lot of our elite boxers didn’t return after Covid, and it has taken time to rebuild the team back to strength.

‘So, having two boxers at elite level and three boxers progressing towards elite level is great to see.’

Tommy Teers tops the bill, but Tyler Quintal, Finn Walsh, Niall Adams and Emile Prevel will also be fighting 3x3min. contests at the business end of the bill.

Both Quintal and Prevel will be boxing this duration for the first time.

Meanwhile, Adams will be getting back in the ring after four years out of the sport and is ‘looking forward to his comeback’ according to Duff.

‘He’s going straight in at the deep end against a notable opponent, and we’re expecting a well‑fought contest.’

Charlie White and Jack Smith are both making their debuts after progressing well in training.

Meanwhile, Teers, Walsh and Prevel will be fighting for the first time this season following a break over the summer and autumn.

‘The trio are looking forward to getting back in the ring and putting on a performance against top lads from the North of England.’

Teers and Adams will be using this contest in preparation for competing at the Guerrilla Round Robin in Swansea, unfolding over the weekend of 20 February.

Youngsters Tamjid Rahman, Frankie Veron and Daniel Jamieson complete the home side.
