The Green Lionesses took the lead early through Ruby Smith, with her fourth goal in four games, before Stoneham put three past Guernsey goalkeeper Alana Hockey to claim the three points.
‘It was much improved from last week, we tweaked a few things and I think the girls did well,’ said manager Anna Gauvain.
‘We started strongly – it’s just about getting that match fitness and sharpness against teams who have been playing in the league for a long time. I think Stoneham said they have been playing in the league for five years now.’
Gauvain praised the in-form Smith for her efforts on Sunday afternoon.
‘I think she did really well up against a strong opposition, I think she was our spark in the first-half, she’s only 16 and has been thrown into it and the younger girls are all learning,’ she said.
‘Kellie Creed as well, I think she has started two matches now, she did really well and was chuffed to have played, and for me that is as pleasing as getting a result.’
Scarlett Gallagher travelled from her university to play in Sunday’s game too.
‘It was nice to see her back as one of our more experienced players, and she gave us that strength in midfield as well,’ said Gauvain.
‘She is a vocal player so it is great to have someone like her in the team.’
The result leaves Guernsey FC Women eighth in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Division One South. They are back in action at Victoria Park on Sunday 22 March.
