The event will be held from 27-30 August at the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground in Bucharest-Ilfov and hosted by Cricket Romania.

The tournament is a flagship T20I competition featuring teams from Romania, Norway, Czech Republic, Malta and Guernsey, and will be professionally live streamed to a global audience.

The return to international competition marks an important step forward for the women’s programme.

Following a hiatus from international fixtures in 2025, Guernsey Cricket successfully launched its new Women’s Super League, creating a competitive and sustainable domestic structure.

The WSL has provided regular matches and a clear performance pathway, enabling selectors to identify and develop talent from a structured league environment.

‘The launch of the Women’s Super League last year was a significant milestone for Guernsey Cricket. It has created depth, competitiveness, and consistency within the women’s game locally,’ said senior women’s national team head coach Ilze Van Der Westhuizen.

‘We now have a strong domestic platform from which to select our national squad, and this tournament presents an exciting opportunity to test ourselves internationally.’

The Women’s Continental Cricket Cup will see Guernsey face European opposition in a T20I format, offering valuable experience and exposure for players as the women’s programme continues to grow.

‘International opportunities are vital for the continued development of our senior women’s squad,’ said Guernsey Cricket chief operating officer Richard Headington.

‘The progress made through the WSL means we are entering this competition better prepared and with renewed momentum. We are grateful to Cricket Romania for the invitation and look forward to competing in Bucharest.’

Peter Mills, joint chairman of Aspida, the Guernsey women’s team primary sponsor, added: ‘Aspida is proud to support Guernsey Cricket and, in particular, the continued development of the women’s game.

‘Opportunities such as this tournament in Romania are hugely important in giving players the chance to compete internationally, gain valuable experience, and represent Guernsey on a wider stage. We are delighted to play a small part in supporting that journey.’

The event will feature full match officiating, awards presentations, and a gala dinner, with matches streamed live across global platforms, further raising the profile of women’s cricket in Guernsey.
