The chocolate-and-blues moved to within one title of doubling the next best in the all time list of Guernsey top-flight champions as they claimed the Priaulx Cup for the 33rd time on Saturday in some style as they netted a magnificent seven against Rangers in the spring sunshine in their final home game of their successful campaign.
‘It’s an unbelievable feeling,’ said head coach Charlie Le Prevost.
‘Proud of all the lads and the effort they put in all season. They deserve that and much more, to be fair.
‘The commitment throughout the season, the whole squad has just been unbelievable.’
Birthday boy Archie Drillot set North on their way to victory over the red-and-blacks and within two-and-a-half minutes of his headed opener, they were 3-0 up with Keene Domaille and Dave Rihoy adding quickfire goals.
Ryan Lamb made it 4-0 before half-time before Craig Young came off the bench in the second half to score a brace and Lamb added a second of his own to finish things off.
‘There’s always a bit of nerves in a situation like that, but the main focus was to get the trophy back here after 10 years. It’s been far too long and it’s back home,’ Le Prevost said.
‘All the group pulled into exactly what we’re trying to achieve, and if it wasn’t for that, it wouldn’t have been possible. Everyone’s attitude, application to what we wanted to achieve at the start of the season was there.
‘I think people said it might have been easy for us to win the league because the quality of players we got, but there’s a lot more to it than that, and the lads deserve a huge amount of credit for what they’ve done.’
