When the top seed tees up to start the defence of his Men’s Island Championship title in a week’s time, his dad Mick is odds-on to be the first obstacle he has to overcome.
Marley senior, the four-time former winner, has to come through a preliminary-round tie with Orlando Abreu first, but the carrot to do so is now an even bigger one with his son lying in wait.
Also in the top half of the draw, fourth seed Danny Blondel faces a tricky first-round match as he will come up against either Tim Halden or Sam Le Huray while Island captain Dave Jeffery lies in wait for either Arthur Evans or Lewis Blondel.
The second and third seeds in the bottom half of the draw will also be facing preliminary-round winners on Tuesday.
Jamie Blondel will take on either Philip Slocombe or Ashley Northgrave while Rory McKenna could come up against junior Alex Mills, who knocked out McKenna’s brother Conor last season when he was reigning champion, if he can overcome Tony De Sousa.
