Competing in the upper age group of the Southern U14/U16/U18 Championships in sunny Chelmsford, she posted 16.36sec. over the 100m hurdles to trail only Cambridge Harriers’ Nia Thomas (15.17) and West Norfolk’s winning Rebecca Johnson (14.74) in the final.
The 15-year-old had qualified third in her heat with a 16.09.
Olivia Whitmore had shone at that preliminary stage, taking third in a faster heat with 15.41, but unfortunately false-started in the final.
Whitmore had earlier bagged fourth with a personal best 1-07.97 in a straight final of the 400m hurdles, where she already holds an Island Games standard.
Similarly, David Bown cleared 1.80m for fourth in a high-jump straight final, faultless to that point but unable to muster the 1.85m needed for a medal.
Over 400m, Tom Holt placed sixth in 52.83.
It marked an improvement on the heats, where he was ranked eighth after a 52.98.
Theo Le Tissier posted 22.44 for seventh in a tight 200m final, lagging his nearest rival by a hundredth. He had earlier battled a big headwind for second in his heat.
Racing his 100m heat into a more modest headwind, he clocked 11.27 as the fastest non-qualifier.
Competing an age group below the other Sarnians, in the U16s, Grace King ran a 4-57.37 in the 1,500m heats.
The off-island programme continues this weekend with five athletes racing the England Senior/U20 Championships in Bedford.
Action starts with Gian-Luca Robilliard in tomorrow’s 800m heats.
400m hurdler Nic Ackermann, steeplechaser Eleanor Jamieson, sprint-hurdler Rhiannon Dowinton and 200m runner Abi Galpin are also competing over the weekend.
