Having already beaten them during the group stage of the tournament, the Italians were convincing nine-wicket winners over the Swedes yesterday at the KGV where they chased down their target of 160 with 17 overs to spare thanks to unbeaten half-centuries from both Rehan Kiriella and player-of-the-match Gianluca Larucci.

Both finalists had already earned promotion to the Division One tournament by virtue of winning their semi-finals.

Hosts Guernsey ended their week on a high as they beat Germany in the third-place play-off by 85 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method as a lunchtime rain shower at Port Soif caused a break in play.

Sarnian skipper Ed Robinson shone with 125 from 108 balls as his side posted 305 and he then took three wickets as Germany were bowled out for 227 having been set an adjusted 45-over target of 313 for victory.

The result meant that Guernsey won as many matches as Italy during the tournament and one more than Sweden.

In the other play-off matches, Switzerland took fifth place with a 159-run win over the Isle of Man at the College Field while Belgium beat France by six wickets at the Memorial Field to finish seventh.
