After being whitewashed in the opening foursomes for the previous two years, the men’s side turned the tables dramatically and took a 4-1 lead this time around as they went through the opening session unbeaten with three wins and two halves.
They extended their advantage in the Saturday afternoon fourballs to open up a 7-3 overnight lead and the Greens picked up the three-and-a-half points they required for victory in the top four singles matches yesterday morning, with Lewis Marley putting the icing on the cake by holing an 18ft birdie putt on the 18th green to get them over the line.
He finished as the only player to pick up a full three points in the match as the hosts won 12.5-7.5.
Meanwhile, Guernsey’s women showed the progress they are making by finishing level at 10 points apiece with the visitors.
Jersey edged the opening foursomes 3-2, but the hosts fought back on Saturday afternoon to win that session 3-2 and level up the match overnight before both sides picked up five singles wins each yesterday.
