League newcomers Bognor Regis Town outclassed the Green Lionesses in Sunday’s clash leaving manager Anna Gauvain frustrated.
‘To concede five goals at home is not a pretty result on paper, but I guess that team is probably going to be one of the better ones in the league,’ she said.
‘We’re away next week to a team that we’ve played before, so I’m hoping the girls can bounce back from this and not be too deflated, but this is a tough one to take.’
Next up they will face Bournemouth Sports reserves. Last season in their matches against Bournemouth Sports Reserves the Green Lionesses came out with a 3-3 draw away from home, and were narrowly beaten at home 3-2.
‘I think they’re going to be pretty similar to us in terms of level,’ said Gauvain.
‘The difficulty with these UK teams is they can bring players from all different leagues and regions. For us, we’ve got what we’ve got, it’s the same with the men you just don’t know who you’re going to be up in week in week out.
‘But we have to bounce back and hopefully we can get a positive result away from home where maybe there’s a little bit less pressure to perform.’ Match report on page 31
