The Island Games silver medallist, who has just entered her second year at University of Nottingham, has been selected to race within the World Triathlon Championship Finals in Spain.
She takes up her place as one of a provisional 70 competitors in the junior women’s race, competing next Thursday over a sprint-distance course in the west-coast city of Pontevedra.
As with her other international outings this year, she will be representing her family nation of Ireland.
‘It’s the pinnacle of the elite junior racing, so to have my place on the start line is a bit surreal,’ she said.
‘Of course, racing the best in world the competition is going to be tough, but to have the opportunity is amazing.
‘It’s my last race as a junior before I step up to U23 and elite next year, so the aim is to race hard but above all enjoy it and soak up the whole experience.’
