Guernsey have three bonus-point wins out of three matches so far this season and will aim to make it four when they head to Colchester tomorrow.
‘In fairness, no one has really spoken about it, at the moment we are just super focused on the things we did well the week before and what needs to be corrected,’ said Guernsey director of rugby Jordan Reynolds when quizzed on the undefeated tag.
‘It is good that we are one of three teams still unbeaten along with Oundle and Old Albanians, but it is still early days.
‘We are only three games in, but if we can keep that unbeaten run going this week going into Old Albanians next week it would be fantastic.’
In naming his squad for tomorrow’s trip to Essex, Reynolds admitted that ‘picking a squad at the moment is tough, especially having to leave out quality players’.
Callum Roberts will make his first start of the season at fullback with Matt Armstrong moving into the centres in the absence of John Dawe.
Hooker Michael Cantle is set to make his first appearance of the season off the bench, as is Dale Rutledge.
‘Every game we face is a slightly different challenge, but there are similarities between Henley and Colchester in terms of the style of rugby they want to play,’ said Reynolds, whose side beat Henley last Saturday.
‘We did well managing the Hawks tempo last week, now we have to up-scale that by 10% against Colchester and factor in the 3G surface because matches on those artificial pitches can become a little bit loose and chaotic.
‘One of the things we have been talking about this week is how good our defensive efforts have been so far, but that is going to be tested by Colchester.’
The newly-promoted hosts have scored at least 40 points in their back-to-back wins over Westcombe Park and London Welsh, which came after a 45-28 opening-day defeat at Barnes.
‘Beating London Welsh was a really good result, but it was 43-40 and a game like that can go either way,’ said Reynolds.
‘Last time they came up they were relegated back down in their first season, so picking up points and wins is hugely important for them.
‘They had Barnes away in the opening week and put in a good showing, they have won their two games since, and no doubt if they continue that sort of form they will do really well, but I don’t think the league table is going to take true shape until November time.’
