The Bournemouth midfielder played the last 22 minutes of a 2-0 victory to earn a first international cap that he has waited nearly a year for since first being called into Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
The 23-year-old said that he probably was not ready to play last autumn but had learned a lot being around the England squad since then.
He becomes the second Guernseyman after Matt Le Tissier to play for England’s men and just the third Channel Islander.
His senior debut came on the day fellow Sarnian - and stepsister - Maya Le Tissier was named in the Lionesses squad to face Greece in their Women’s World Cup qualifying play-off matches next month.
‘It’s something you dream of as a kid. A lot of hard work’s gone into that and I was grateful for the opportunity,’ he said live on ITV after the match.
‘To be part of the squad is a massive honour. I think I did ok, we had a lot of the ball, which suits me. I enjoyed it.’
And Scott came close to scoring on the night, curling just wide after carrying the ball out of midfield in trademark style with a few minutes left.
England’s men still have two more games to come in an extended Nations League window. The Three Lions face Croatia away on Saturday before welcoming Czechia to Wembley for the return fixture on Tuesday 6 October.
