An application has been made to the Development & Planning Authority for a modular, prefabricated container building at the north-west corner of the main pitch, providing a dedicated takeaway food and drink outlet, a small merchandise store, a secondary clubhouse area for Guernsey FC and a ground-floor boardroom and match-day space for visiting officials.
The company which owns the ground said in the application that in the 18 months since Victoria Park opened in March 2025, it had become clear that running takeaway sales from the existing Nutmeg cafe was compromising its main hospitality role on match days.
The new building would take on the takeaway offering, managed by Nutmeg’s operator, and serve the northern side of the ground, allowing the cafe to operate more effectively.
‘As the stadium continues to grow as a sporting and community venue, it’s important that our facilities evolve to meet the needs of the clubs, players, officials and supporters who use them,’ said Victoria Park director Rob Jones.
‘This proposed development represents another positive step forward, providing much-needed additional space while creating new opportunities to enhance the matchday experience. It’s a practical, cost-effective solution that will help us make even better use of the stadium, and we’re excited about the benefits it could bring.’
The building would be used mainly on match days, from noon to 4pm at weekends and 6.30pm to 9.30pm midweek, as well as for tournaments and other events.
The application claims the building would have a limited impact beyond the site and similar style buildings were proving increasingly popular at football grounds in the UK.
If approved, the new facilities will be operational for the 2027 season.
