The six summer concerts, which see visiting tribute acts and local bands take to the balcony at the Cobo Bay Hotel, will this year raise money for Male Uprising Guernsey and Bright Tights, having last year raised more than £9,000 for children’s charities Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre.
‘The Cobo Bay balcony gigs are loved by so many, we have islanders booking tables a year in advance and visitors planning their holidays around the gig dates. We have an amazing line-up planned for this summer, with some of the UK’s best tribute acts and Guernsey’s most talented musicians,’ said organiser David Nussbaumer.
‘My thanks to Ravenscroft, Ravenscroft Construction, Pula Limited and Randalls for their incredible support and for choosing two fantastic charities who make such a difference to islanders at times when they need it the most through the support they give.’
This Sunday’s gig kicks off at 3pm with a homage to Elvis before the Ed Sheeran tribute takes to the balcony.
Volunteers from local charities Mug and Bright Tights, the latter of which raises awareness of gynaecological cancers, will alternate being at the gigs with Mug starting this Sunday.
‘Mug’s aim is to raise awareness of prostate, bowel, testicular and skin cancer and we have raised more than a million pounds to fund medical equipment and training, cancer awareness and education and youth sports,’ said Tony Tostevin from Mug.
‘We are honoured to be asked to be a beneficiary of this year’s balcony gigs and look forward to talking to islanders, handing out sun cream and selling reusable pint glasses, raising awareness and funds for the charity,’
