Many residents took to Facebook and Twitter to report snowflakes beginning to fall and at least temporarily settling in certain areas of the island, but households in parishes such as St Peter Port and St Sampson's voiced their disappointment online that they were missing out.
Some families and residents even managed to build snowmen in their garden before the snow disappeared, including Karen Blanchford, in the Forest, who said on Twitter that it was very exciting for her Australian husband and children. Her snowman is pictured.
Latest forecasts suggest that Further snow could fall today and meteorologist Robert Plummer, who writes as The Guernsey Weather Fox, said up to 2cm could hit higher areas.
