Forest Park awaiting hotel status
FOREST Park Hotel can be put back onto the Housing Register as a designated 'hotel' following its reopening and rebranding nearly two years ago, if deputies agree to proposals from Housing.
The hotel, formerly St Margaret's Lodge Hotel, was removed from the register back in 2013 after Commerce and Employment refused an application for a boarding permit and the premises temporarily closed.
Being removed from the housing register, where it had been inscribed in Part B, meant that instead of being classed as open market under the designation 'hotel', the building was classed as a controlled unit of local market accommodation.
Since then the owner has upgraded the premises and in September 2013 it was reopened and rebranded Forest Park Hotel.
The proposals from Housing, which will be debated at next month's States meeting, would see ordinance drawn up to allow the hotel to again be inscribed placed on the housing register as a hotel, subject to an application being made by the owner within six months of the start of the ordinance.
