Mother-of-three Tanya Le Pavoux said it would have taken around half a year to save up enough money to replace the carpets she had spent £2,334 on and ordered from Carpet Selection before she found out the company had gone out of business.

Instead, the firm GFF (Greg Forino Flooring) discovered her plight in the Guernsey Press and generously offered to fit all new carpets for free.

Miss Le Pavoux, 42, said she was stunned but so grateful for the kindness shown by GFF.

She had only recently bought her home and had ripped out the carpets in the three bedrooms, landing, stairs and lounge in preparation for receiving her carpets from Carpet Selection, only to discover it had gone into liquidation.

'I am overwhelmed by the kindness,' she said.

'It has shocked me. I honestly didn't expect it.'Now I know I'm definitely not getting my money back. If they had not have helped me, I would have had to save for ages because it is only me and the children. It would have taken me at least six months to save up again.'
