The Environment Department issued the reminder after it found some drivers seemed to not be aware of what they can and cannot do along the seafront.
'Since the reduction to one southbound lane along the Town Quay most drivers travelling from the Salerie direction and intending to continue southbound are approaching the roundabout in the right-hand lane,' said a department spokesperson.
'In accordance with the road markings that already exist on the approach to the roundabout, drivers are also entitled to use the lefthand lane and then merge lanes after the signalised crossing at the Liberation monument.'
The spokesman added that the current traffic sign situated by the Weighbridge clock tower was perhaps giving the impression that motorists must get in lane before exiting the roundabout.
'Whilst this is not what was intended, this sign is being removed,' he said.
