Forest Park hotel manager is threatened with eviction

HOTEL rooms have been left without hot water for months after a boiler broke at Forest Park Hotel, a court heard yesterday, as an eviction order was sought launched against general manager Elvio Pires in a bitter dispute over money.

Mr Pires, however, claims he is owed tens of thousands of pounds from his 'life savings' by the hotel, and when the hot water boiler broke in October last year he was given a verbal agreement that his rent would cease until it was fixed.

The Ordinary Division of the Royal Court heard how the Commerce and Employment Department has now stepped in and warned in June this year that the hotel's boarding permit would be under threat if the boiler remained broken.

Mr Pires said a huge number of bookings had to be cancelled and reputational damage was caused by the saga, with him and his wife running a 'minimal service' to try to retain the under-threat permit.

The general manager also told the court of the investment he made, which he claims is still owed, arriving at the hotel when it was in disrepair.
