The Year 4 pupils went to Pleinmont and, from near the 'Fairy Ring', looked out to the lighthouse, which featured in Victor Hugo's novel Toilers of the Sea, published in 1866.
Some of the photos by the 44 students will be entered into the Hugo festival photography competition.
The festival runs from Saturday 2 until Sunday 10 April.
