Pride of Guernsey: 'A shining example'

A 'SHINING example' of how to be a teacher and a leader is how La Mare de Carteret High head teacher Vicky Godley has been described, having led and steered the school to its improved status and high standing in the community today.

She is someone who is 'long overdue recognition' and shows huge commitment to her role at La Mare.

Her nominator credits Mrs Godley for single-handedly steering the school and its improvement, as well as raising the morale of the teachers, pupils and families at the expense of her own family time.

'She is always there, eager to speak to all involved. She is a shining example of everything a good teacher, leader and community-focused person should be.'

Despite the uncertainties that have surrounded the school, Mrs Godley is described as someone who 'still lifts' all those concerned.

Put simply, her results speak for themselves and she would certainly be a worthy winner of the Garenne-sponsored Pride of Guernsey Teacher of the Year Award, said the proposer.
