Pride of Guernsey - 'a great provider of support and encouragement'
A HISTORY teacher who goes above and beyond his role, Chris Murphy has given one pupil the extra skills and confidence to also help them in their other subjects.
Mr Murphy is head of history at St Sampson's High, and to his nominator for the Garenne-sponsored Teacher of the Year Award, he is more than worthy of this award.
This pupil, who said they found school tougher than most, said Mr Murphy had always been really approachable and put in place techniques that helped without making them feel embarrassed in front of the class.
This has left them enjoying history and in turn given them skills and confidence to take forward to the rest of their classes.
The pupil said Mr Murphy had been a great provider of support and active encouragement throughout.
He has gone over and above the requirements of his role as teacher and helped the pupil get through the subject of history.
'I would therefore like to recognise his help with everything he has done for me and nominate him for this award.'
