Pride of Guernsey: 'So much time and patience'
A LES BEAUCAMPS HIGH teacher whose patience and support has helped a mother and her son through some difficult times has been nominated for the Garenne-sponsored Teacher of the Year award.
Nick Roberts has been nominated by Donna Gaudion, who said Mr Roberts had helped her son to apply himself at school despite difficulties outside it.
'Mr Roberts, a teacher at Les Beaucamps School, has gone above and beyond to support myself and my son,' she said. 'Mr Roberts ensured my son continued his education and achieved to the best of his ability in his GCSE exams.'
Miss Gaudion said her son's medical condition, which saw him attend Great Ormond Street Hospital last year, had seen him 'go through a challenging time since', but Mr Roberts had helped them manage they as well as they could.
'He has replied to every email I sent him, even in his own time in the evenings,' she said. 'Mr Roberts had so much time and patience with him and never gave up on him.'
Mr Roberts is head of Years 10 and 11 at Les Beaucamps and teaches PE and geography.
