They have vented their frustration on social media, describing being unable to make contact with the owners of the furniture upcycle store at Les Banques.

The shop has newspaper covering its windows, along with To Let signs, and some furniture sitting in the front.

One customer claimed they had paid for goods, but had not heard anything from the owners, despite repeated attempts to get in touch.

Others claim they had sent their furniture to the business for upcycling before it closed and did not know where it was.

A director of Le Friquet Holdings Ltd, which is the landlord of the property, confirmed it had put up the To Let signs, to see whether there was any potential interest from anyone else wanting to lease the premises.

'The landlord does hope to re-let if it comes to it.
