Permaculture takes root at three-day Sark festival

AN ESTIMATED 600 visitors and locals attended Sark’s Roots Festival – a three-day music and awareness event – last weekend.

The idea for Roots Festival was devised three years ago by island residents Roz Rolls and Lazslo Kulcsan.

The couple wanted to create an event centred around promoting ‘permaculture’, an anti-consumerist global movement, Sark being a fitting location.

‘Sark has a real peacefulness about it, it’s got a slower pace that maybe enables people to relax,’ said Ms Rolls.
