The 17-year-old was joint winner of the Sovereign Art Foundation Art for Guernsey scholarship and has now won the Floral Guernsey Young People’s Award for her mural on the cattery at the GSPCA.

‘I’m really pleased,’ said the Blanchelande College student. ‘The mural flowed because I draw animals in my spare time, I really enjoyed it.’

The mural took Miss Khankashi 10 days of near non-stop work to complete and is an adaptation of her entry into the Sovereign Art Foundation’s competition.

Ann Wragg, leader of the St Andrew’s Floral Group, was hugely impressed with the artwork.

‘I think the work is stunning.

‘It is a lovely backdrop to what we’ve got – it’s lovely.’
