UK rugby players accused of poor conduct on flight home

AURIGNY is looking into allegations that players from Newick Rugby Football Club acted in a ‘vulgar’ and ‘ignorant’ way when flying back to Gatwick on Saturday night.

Reports claiming drunken and rowdy behaviour were posted on social media with one passenger, who asked to remain anonymous, saying she was disgusted by the language and their manner.

Aurigny said it was liaising with the sport’s governing body, the Rugby Football Union, which had a strict code of conduct in place for clubs and players.

‘We are confident the RFU will take any appropriate action, as they have a zero-tolerance for poor behaviour,’ said a spokesman.

‘We would also like to make clear that we do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour onboard our flights and we will deny passengers from boarding, if necessary. Sometimes, however, it can be difficult to foresee.'
