Don’t risk playing ‘Russian roulette’ with drink-driving

HAVING just one drink and driving is like playing Russian roulette and could change your life completely.

That is the message of this year’s Christmas anti drink-drive campaign, which was launched by Guernsey Police and Guernsey Drug and Alcohol Strategy yesterday.

‘Alcohol affects everyone differently,’ said GDAS coordinator Andrea Nightingale.

‘Just one drink could render some people unfit to drive, so the "Russian roulette" message of this campaign will hopefully reinforce that thought among the general public throughout the festive season.’

This is the campaign’s 10th year and Sergeant Tom Marshall, of the roads policing unit, said that its message was once again straightforward: ‘If you’re going to drive a vehicle, don’t drink any alcohol. It could only take one for you to be over the limit.’
