Aurigny granted licence to continue on Guernsey-Jersey route

Aurigny will be able to stay on the inter-island services where it originally made its name after the States Transport Licensing Authority granted its application to fly between Guernsey and Jersey from 15 January next year.

But an application from Loganair for the same route is still to be considered.

‘The TLA followed a rigorous process set out in the law, which included consideration of representations received from the public, other interested parties and the applicant, as part of the application consultation process,’ said TLA president Deputy John Gollop.

‘Members of the TLA are grateful for the engagement it received from members of the public and interested parties.’

Loganair has two more applications outstanding, to operate Guernsey-Jersey and Guernsey-Southampton services. The TLA is dealing with these applications in strict date order and said it would be considering both as soon as possible.

But it is thought unlikely that after the Economic Development Committee made inter-island a licensed lifeline route, that the TLA would allow competition on it.
